It's raining, it's pouring.....

Fathersday......

(Ohhh isnt he the cutest dog in the whole wide world??? I thinks o!!!)

Is there such a thing in the states?? Well yesterday was fathersday/mensday here. Basically all men celebrate, they dont necessarily have to be fathers! Normally the men meet and walk and walk and walk for hours and drink! Yeah... does not sound like fun!!
I am not a father, nor am I a man but I still thought it would be nice to walk and walk and walk and drink.. Haha... just kidding! If you know me, you know I dont drink! So we had a much better idea!!

The weather had been quite nice the last couple of days. We only had thunder storms and rain in the evening. We decided to invite some friends over (early) to bbq. Nicole, Momo and I sat on the balcony in the afternoon waiting for our friends and the rain started!! We just sat there and watched it and prayed it would stop later..

Friends arrived and it stopped..

So we decided to get the grill started!! This is Susis way of starting it!!

Well someone had other plans for us!

The rain came down and wouldnt stop! I watched from the dry balcony and said things like these: "Ohh look, it's looking nicer over there, just a couple of minutes and the rain will stop!!"
"I think the sun is about to come out again!!"

I think I jinxed it!

It got worse...

and worse.....

It took forever until we could start eating!! But finally around 8:30 we were done and we brought out the game!!

He had to draw something wearing orange glasses and drawing with an orange pencil!! It was so funny having to guess what he was drawing, since he couldnt see anything!!

We were really enjoying ourselves!!

Now it was Susis turn to make something out of the green string! And I was guessing like a crazy woman!! I look so stupid in this pic!!

The others were watching as well!!

So that was what we did yesterday!

I really was lookign forward to a sunny afternoon in the back yard with cold lemonade and brownies! I was looking forward to my friends and the good food!! I was looking forward to the fun we would have!!

Sometimes we have to stop looking for the perfect things!! It just frustrates you...
Sometimes the things that we dread, are not as bad as they may seem in the end!!
It just depends what you make of them!!

We really had a nice day... The rain gave us many good laughs!! Everytime it almost stopped and we went outside, it would start all over again!! Everytime it stopped and someone made a thankful comment about that, it would start all over again!!

We made the best of it!!

Show Us Where You Live Friday!!

So today I get to share the livingroom with the world wide web!!
Bevor I ever moved out at home I visioned what my living room would look like. I had many ideas, in the end it turned out completly different. Where would I be able to find a green couch? Where would I be able to find a living room big enough for the wallpaper I planned to put up in the living room (the poster one post down in the mirror picture is actually this). I bought it bevor I even had an appartment!! :)

Well take a step.... Come a little closer!!!

We put the floor in bevor we moved in. It had the same yellow floor as the kitchen and that was NOT what I wanted!!


May I just say that I LOVE my couch??? It's so comfy. I think I spend most of my days just sitting here with my laptop in my lap, a book in my hand, food or drinks in my hands... This is where we always eat!! Here in Weimar is a huge place with furniture. It's furniture that was brought to the wrong address or that was not in the collection anymore. You get it there for half the price and it's completly new. This couch would have cost almost 700€ (over 900$) and there it was for 300€. I went and asked if they would go down another 30€ and sure enough they did!!
A HUGE AND COMFY COUCH FOR ONLY 270€ , YOU CANT BEAT THAT!!!!


I also really like all the pictures that I framed. Nicole took the pics and I painted the frames and hung them up. I really wand to get more frames in different sizes to add to this!!


This is one of four antiques I own. It belonged to my moms best friend bevor she passed away!! I just had to have it! One day it will not be cluttered with junk!!

One day...

Just recently I went off on buying old picture frames and stuff like that on ebay.... I dont plan to ever put a picture in this frame!!
This is my favortie chair even though I never sit in it! It was my moms when she moved to Germany almost 30 years ago. They were gonna throw it out bc the cushions were gross but I bought new stuff and now I am in love with it. She used to have two of them but we were never able to find the other one!

Oh well.. one is plenty.. we are running out of space!!

This is a table that I saved out of my grandparents house. It belonged to some great great aunt (from my dad) and I like it. One day it will not have a laptop and junk on it and it will be in my own library room or somethign like that and will be treated with respect!!!


I got this picture for my confirmation. I always loved it when I walked by it in my aunts house. We had if framed and it had to come with me into my appartment!

This I got for my birthday!! I am for sure getting more of these. Ever since I was 16 I wanted this one quote on my wall, well now I have it. It's from the movie Schindlers List and originally from the Talmud.

It says: Who saved one single life, saved the whole world....
It always made me think and that's why I love it so much...

So this is the opposite side of the couch!! I LOVE the shelf, the sad part is there are two rows of books in most of them and I hate not being able to see all my books. I really need a bigger self in here. It's not like this is the only bookshelf we have.. There are just too many books out there that I have to read!!

And I love owning my favorite books!!

It's quite a mess... Also we love to play games and today I actually am gonna take all the games out of the shelf and put them somewhere else so that I have more space for books or DVDs

This is the typical IKEA chair that almost everyone seems to have!! It's only 19€ (22$?) and really comfy!! We got it from Nicoles aunt!! Ohh and next to the chair is where Momo sleeps!!
That's him with his favorite toy. Please note that it used to have 4 legs.. I had to close the whole bc he just loves taking out the white stuff and spreading it everywhere!!

Sometimes it looks as if he is cuddling it, he will put his one leg on top of his toy. It's the cutest thing I have ever seen. Oh how I love this dog!!!!

2444 pages....

So this is what I got for christmas from my parents!! I read about the Twilight saga on many blogs and thought I really had to have the books!! I wanted them in english and also as hardcovers!! I think my mom had to order them from the states.

I never felt the urge to start reading them. I was occupied with many other books so these were just decorating my book shelf! Theres nothing wrong with that but christmas was almost 5 months ago.

So 2 weeks ago on a friday I took out the first book.. I am sure I had plans for that weekend, but when I started reading all my plans just vanished.. 498 pages later on that same friday I opened the second one.... I have seriously never been so much into a book. It all became so real. I know I tend to be that way when I read a good book but this time it was even more..
It was hard to put the book down for the night, but then again it wasnt that bad when I fell asleep.
Because that first night I dreamed of Bella, Edward, Jacob, Alice, Jasper, Rose, Emmett, Carlisle, Esme, Charlie, a silver Volvo, an old truck etc... I had no idea that would be only one of many dreams I would have. I was living there with them and when I woke up I was actually sad it had all been a dream..

I got up at 7 and kept reading the second book. I only put it down for maybe an hour to go otuside with Momo and take a shower. Nicole was getting really mad at me. I wouldnt help make dinner, I actually hardly ate, I didnt check emails, I didnt answer the phone, I just sat there and read... 563 pages later I was holding book numer 3 in my hands without even noticing...
I felt like being part of everything. I hurt when Bella hurt, I cried when they cried, I was happy when they were happy and mad or furious when they felt that way...
I couldnt put the book down.. Just as the two before... It just wouldnt work...
I went to bed sad for not having finished the 3rd book yet... The next morning I got up early again just to take the book and start reading. 629 pages later and I was done with that book...

Now comes the bad part. We were invited by friends to a barbecue so I had to force myself not to start book number 4.. I didnt know what to do with myself while I waited to get ready to leave.
I am sure I kept looking at the fourth book and felt a huge longing to just grab it and lock myself in the bathroom(only room with a key) and just forget about the invitation and the ppl around me but I didnt.

I actually had a nice evening. The food and conversations were great, we played a game and the time went by too fast...
Next day would be a monday and I had to go back to class. Reality hit... I wasnt able to just sit on the couch all day and read. That was really hard on me. I took the book in the train and to my classes and every chance I got I would start reading... There wouldnt be many chanes!!

Today I was able to finish all 729 pages of the fourth book.

I am SOOOO THANKFUL that my class this morning was cancelled!! I am so glad there is a happy ending... I am so sad it's over... I am so glad I didnt read the first book when it came out bc I would have not been able to wait for the second.. I am sad that my dreams will become less... I am glad I found out about these books!!

2444 pages later... now I will have to go watch the movie....

Something from IKEA....

Today Nicole went to IKEA with some friends!! We were in desperate need of some cutting boards for the kitchen and some boxed for blankets and other stuff that we cant put away since there is like NO STORAGE in this appartment!!
When I came back she told me, she had brought me something back from IKEA!!!

Show Us Where You Live Friday

I really LOVE this idea from Kelly. So now that I found some time, I thought I would join in the fun.
I really love living in my own place. It's my first appartment ever. I moved in almost 1,5 years ago when I started college here. So I am a student and our kitchen isnt fancy like some of the other ones, it's small, I think its even smaller than the bathroom, but it sure is one of my favorite rooms of the appartment (and I cant wait to share the livingroom and my bedroom!!) but I love to spend time there cooking.

The balcony is right out the kitchen. I really love that part and Momo does too!!

There is not much space to prepare food and stuff and we dont have a dishwasher :( BUT that wooden thingy from IKEA really holds a lot of dishes!

So since I live in Germany we have to recycle. Yes we HAVE TO! You get a fine if you dont. I really doubt they would find out though. So while I was buying paint and all that stuff I found these nice trash cans. The left one is for plastic, the right one for normal garbage, then we have a huge bag for paper and outside on the balcony we have one for organic waste. Sounds ridiculous but it really isnt. You should consider recycling as well. Its so much better for the environment!!

That thing is filled with plates, pans, dog food, doggy toys, treats, cookies, noodles, flour and a lot more. It really isnt organized at all but I dont care!!

Since we realyl do enjoy cooking we needed more storage. Here we keep out herbs, cook books, milk, jam, quinoa, bulgur, rice, sauces....

Since the kitchen is so tiny there wanst room for a big table. We got this one from IKEA as well. It actually folds down but I havent done that yet. The chairs were plain so I decided to paint them in my favorite color!! We actually never eat there. I only sit there when I peel potatoes or cut onions.

I LOVE signs. So I have been collecting them ever since I moved here!! These are most of them.

And here is Momo on his favorite spot. He lays there almost all day, watches us cook, watches the neighboors and sleeps in the sun!!
